Booka Shade Information
Booka Shade is a house music duo from Germany. Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier make up the group. Planet Claire was the name of the duo's first album, which was produced by Peter Hayo and released in the early 1990s. According to the pair, planet Claire was inspired by a B-52 song of the same name. In the late 1990s, the duo cooperated with DJ T and founded the Get Physical record label with friends Patrick Bodmer and Philipp Jung, nicknamed M.A.N.D.Y. The Get Physical label evolved swiftly and became a well-known name in the electronic music world.
Booka Shade's album Memento was released on Get Physical in 2004. Then came their partnership with M.A.N.D.Y., with their single "Body Language" reaching a global audience. The song became a club hit, earning the title of "Ibiza Track of the Season." As a result, DJ Magazine named Get Physical "Label of the Year."
Mandarine Girl, their follow-up song, was likewise a big hit, and it's still the best-selling record at UK vinyl outlet Phonica to this day. The songs "Night Falls," "In White Rooms," and "Darko" were included on the next album, Movements, which was released in May 2006. Booka Shade toured the world in 2007 as part of their 'Movements' tour, doing 150 gigs over 20 months. Booka Shade published the Movements Tour Edition in February 2008, which included the original album and live versions of the original tunes.
