BigBabyGucci (formerly BigBabyFinesse) is the stage name of American rapper James Haley (born August 13, 1996) of Charlotte, North Carolina. His first project, 2016's A Fucking Mixtape, was critically acclaimed and brought him widespread exposure. His mom served in the Air Force and then retired. He claims to have attended 15 different schools across the state of North Carolina before completing his education at Ashbrook High School in Gastonia.
Haley received a scholarship to attend college after high school but was dismissed from his first year. He was quickly arrested for grand theft auto, trespassing, and failure to appear in court after being kicked out of school. In prison for five months, he formed a group of creative types he'd met on Twitter, eventually becoming known as 1500Forever. About this time, he made his first mixtape, titled A Fucking Mixtape, available on Soundcloud.
The original work is now known as the ART HOE Collection on the Apple Music and Spotify streaming platforms. BigBabyGucci's largest project, Romance Isn't Dead, was released with the help of Blvc Svnd, and it received praise from influential music websites such as Lyrical Lemonade, Daily Chiefers, and ELEVATOR. His video for "Tales From The Cornerstone," posted exclusively on Elevator, has over 250,000 views on YouTube and 4 million plays on Soundcloud.
