Belle and Sebastian Information
Belle & Sebastian is an indie pop band from Glasgow, Scotland, established in 1996. The band, which Stuart Murdoch spearheads, has 12 studio albums to their credit. They frequently get likened to groups like Nick Drake and the Smiths.
The name "Belle & Sebastian" is derived from the 1965 children's book "Belle et Sébastien" written by French author Cécile Aubry, which later became a television series. The "wistful pop" of Belle & Sebastian has been critically acclaimed repeatedly, yet the band's financial success has been modest.
The group released a new song titled "We Were Beautiful" in the middle of 2017. A humorous incident involving the band's U.S. tour—specifically, their forgetting Colburn at a North Dakota Walmart—made headlines that same year. The group put out 3 EPs, including the popular one titled "How to Solve Our Human Problems" in 2017. The other two were released in 2018.
Dave McGowan was officially welcomed to the band on November 3, 2018. Twenty years after the inaugural Bowlie Weekender, Belle & Sebastian hosted a third event, the Boaty Weekender, in August 2019 to commemorate the occasion.
Instead of taking place at a UK holiday park like the first two Boaty Weekenders, the 2019 event took place aboard a cruise ship in the Mediterranean. Bit of Previous, the band's eleventh studio album, came out in May 2022.
