Jalisco, Mexico, is home to the regional Mexican band Banda Maguey. Villa Corona is also the birthplace of Banda Machos, one of the most prominent Technobanda groups with Banda Maguey. Pero Te Amo, a hit from Banda Maguey's fourth album El Mundo Gira, was composed by Ernesto Solano, who also sang lead for the band. After securing a recording contract with BMG U.S. Latin in 1998, Banda Maguey released Lágrimas De Sangre.
Banda Maguey was a popular choice during the Technobanda trend of the 1990s. Their 1994 debut album Tumbando Caa had several singles, including a rendition of "El Alacran" by La Sonora Matancera. Banda Maguey, who had been signed to Fonovisa a year before, dominated their hometown with their onda grupera sound. The band's debut U.S. concert was in May 1994. Albums like Como La Luna, Si T No Estás, Que Sacrificio, and Eva Maria by Banda Maguey from 1995's La Estrella De Los Bailes were hits in their own country.
