Badfish Information
Badfish: A Tribute to Sublime is an all-Sublime tribute band from Rhode Island. You might think this band is from southern California, but that's not true. An album track, "40oz. to Freedom," inspired the band's moniker. The band, whose members were all computer science majors at URI, formed in 2001 and immediately became a staple at sold-out gigs in their home state.
Their popularity on college campuses and among Sublime fans—those who had never seen the band live after leader Bradley Nowell died in 1996—led them to continue touring the Midwest and East Coast of the United States. Every year since then, the band has gone on several nationwide tours. The band's 2008 Boston Music Awards nomination was for Best Tribute Act.
2006 the band hit 152 U.S. cities, selling slightly under 100,000 tickets and raking in $1.4 million. The band has played to sold-out crowds at prestigious venues like the Starland Ballroom in New Jersey, Lupo's in Providence, Rhode Island, the Toronto Opera House, and the House of Blues in Chicago, Atlantic City, and Las Vegas. Members of the group also perform as Scotty Don't, a non-tribute act that occasionally opens for "Badfish: A Tribute to Sublime" concerts. The band's 2009 and 2010 festival appearances were at Hoodwink in New Jersey and Shwagstock in Salem, Missouri.
