Apocalyptica Information
Apocalyptica is a symphonic metal band from Helsinki, Finland, founded in 1993. The band currently features Perttu Kivilaakso, Eicca Toppinen, and Paavo Lötjönen, all of whom have classical cello training. They started as a Metallica tribute band playing classical music but quickly shifted to a neoclassical metal sound, doing away with bass and guitars altogether. So far, they've sold more than four million records.
Cell-0 is the band's instrumental ninth studio album, released on January 10, 2020. Three Days Grace's Explosions album, released on May 6, 2022, featured the song "Someone To Talk To" featuring Apocalyptica. What We're Up Against" is a new single and music video by Apocalyptica that debuted on December 15, 2023. It features Elize Ryd of Amaranthe.
Plays Metallica, Vol. 2, the band's eleventh studio album, was released on June 7, 2024. It is the successor to Plays Metallica by Four Cellos (1996). Covers of Metallica songs, including "The Unforgiven II" and "The Four Horsemen," appear on the album, along with a rendition of "One" sung by James Hetfield and bassist Robert Trujillo.[26] It also has Cliff Burton's 1984 bass master recording from The Call of Ktulu, which is a cover of the song.
