Anya Hinkle, who was up in the Virginia mountains, is a folk and bluegrass singer-songwriter whose music reflects her colorful storytelling, lively musicianship, startling honesty, as well as the traditions of her Appalachian and global upbringing.
After starting with an album called "old time duets" on the Virginia heritage label the crooked road in 2007, she relocated to Asheville, North Carolina, where she formed the bands Dehlia Low (rebel records) and Tellico (organic records). Eden and her frontiers, Anya's debut album under her name, was released in July 2021 on organic records. 2019 saw her take first place in the merlefest Chris Austin song contest with "Ballad of Zona Abston," and 2022 had her finish second at the international acoustic music awards with "Hills of Swant tonoa."
Hinkle performs worldwide, from little clubs to massive arenas, all over the United States, Japan, and Europe. She has shared the stage with Mipso, John Doyle, Malcolm Holcombe, the Stray Birds, and many others at festivals such as Merlefest, Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival, La Roche Bluegrass Festival (France), and Bristol Rhythm & Roots. She has already released ten albums with different groups in the United States and Japan, and she is now working on her second studio album under her name, which is set for release in 2023.
