Ann Nesby Information
Ann Nesby (July 24, 1955) is an American actress, dancer, gospel and R&B music singer. She was born in Chicago, Illinois. A group member since the late '80s, Nesby joined Sounds of Blackness in the '90s. The album Sounds of Blackness won two Grammys in 1991 and 1993, and Nesby contributed vocals to several of the album's songs, including "I Believe," "Optimistic," "I'm Going All the Way," "Soul Holiday," and "The Pressure." I'm Here for You, Nesby's first solo album, was published in 1996. Her EPs Witness and Hold On reached 42 and 75 on the UK Singles Chart, respectively, in December 1996 and 1997.
In Tyler Perry's I Know I've Been Changed, which ran from 1998 to 2000, Nesby played a pivotal part. Nesby came out with her second studio record, titled Put It on Paper 2002. The album also contained "Lovin' Is Really My Game," Nesby's first no. 1 song on the dance chart, a cover version of the 1977 hit dance tune by Brainstorm, and the lead single of the same name, which featured Al Green and earned Nesby her first solo Grammy nomination in 2003.
The Lula Lee Project, her newest album, debuted at number 13 on the Top Gospel Albums list and 57 on the R&B Albums chart in the US Billboard music magazine. The duo "Love Has Finally Come at Last" (which Nesby performed with Calvin Richardson) was nominated for Best R&B Performance By a Duo or Group with Vocal, and "Sow Love" was nominated for Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance.
