Amaranthe, known initially as Avalanche, is a Swedish heavy metal band. This heavy metal band originated from Gothenburg, Sweden, in 2008. Olof Mörck (Dragonland, Nightrage) and Joacim "Jake E" Lundberg are the two creators of Amaranthe. The band is famous for having three lead vocalists named Henrik Englund Wilhelmsson, Elize Ryd, and Nils Molin. These three present entirely different vocal styles. The other current band members are Morten Løwe, Olof Mörck, Sørensen, Johan Andreassen, and Henrik Englund.
The band was called Avalanche till 2009 but was forced to change their name as Avalanche got some legal issues. "Amaranthe" was the band's debut album, which was released in April 2011. The album reached peak 35th position on the Swedish charts, whereas 16th position on Finnish Charts. The second album by the Amaranthe was "The Nexus" in March 2013, reaching 6th position on the Sweden charts, 12th on the charts of US Heatseekers, and 4th on Finnish charts.
The music style of the Amaranthe is stated to be a hybridization between melodic pop music and death metal, and overall metalcore type. Amaranthe is classified as melodic death metal and power metal by the MusicMight. Their soaring vocals are an important part of the band.
