Alesana Information
Alesana is an American post-hardcore band that was founded in 2004 and originated in Raleigh, North Carolina. The band was founded by Shawn Milke, Dennis Lee, and Patrick Thompson. The music of the group is defined as metalcore, screamo, and post-hardcore. The current lineup consists of Shawn Milke – clean and unclean vocals, rhythm guitar, piano, keyboard, programming; Dennis Lee – unclean vocals; Patrick Thompson – lead guitar, backing vocals; Jeremy Bryan – drums, percussion; Shane Crump – bass, backing vocals; and Jake Campbell – rhythm and lead guitar. The band name is inspired by Aliceanna St. where Thompson and Milke spent time playing in Baltimore, MD.
In 2005, Alesana was the first band to join Tragic Hero Records. The three demos by the group entitled "Apology," "Beautiful in Blue" and "Goodbye, Goodnight for Good" were featured on All The Tragedy Money Can Buy, a compilation. A debut EP by the band was released in 2005 entitled, Try This With Your Eyes Closed. Alesana appeared at the Cornerstone Festival, despite not being a Christian band, and toured all across the US.
Alesana released a full-length album, entitled On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax, during the summer of 2006. It was followed by Where Myth Fades to Legend (2008), The Emptiness (2010), A Place Where the Sun Is Silent (2011), and Confessions (2015). The band also released two more EPs named The Decade EP (2014) and The Lost Chapters EP (2017). Alesana also made four successful collaborations, including "Hey There Mr. Brooks," "Skylines," "12 Steps," and "Lorn," all featuring Shawn Milke.
