Emmanuel Jimenez (October 12, 1987) is a Dominican singer, producer, actor, songwriter, and musician. He is professionally known as Ala Jaza. He is recognized for developing his merengue style named “MamWali.” The style brought him to fame after releasing his cover of “Mi Forma de Ser,” originally by Farruko. Ala Jaza also collaborated with Farruko in the remix of Mix Forma de Ser. The collaboration dominated the Billboard Tropical Charts in 2018.
Ala Jaza is also known for his notable hits such as “Culpables,” “Baila Baila Baila (with Ozuna),” “Day Dema,” “Si No Me Amas,” “Nadie Se Meta,” and a few more. Ala Jaza also won three Soberano Awards in the merengue category in 2019. Sony Music signed him in 2007 as a member of the bachata group called Optimo. He played as a co-producer, co-vocalist, and bassist in that group.
Ala Jaza decided that he would leave Optimo in 2009 to pursue his solo career in urban merengue. That’s when he adopted his name, Ala Jaza. With his new moniker, he has released a few studio albums so far, including 2k17 En Vivo (2017), La Escuela del Mamwali (2017), and Mamwali Vol. 2 (2019).
