It was open to the general public on October 11, 1915, with a construction cost of $150,000. It has a seating capacity of around 1,270 people. The theatre is under the ownership of Paramount, Inc and operated by Austin Theatre Alliance. John Eberson designed the architecture of the building. It underwent constant renovations from the 1930s to 2015. The theatre was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on June 23, 1976. It has 10 eras of showing theatre plays, live acts, musicals events, premieres of movies, concerts, orchestra, annual film festivals, along with hosting 250+ performances annually. The venue is famous for providing more than a hundred years of entertainment and performances.
