The venue is owned by Worcester Center for Performing Arts and operated by SMG. The architecture of the Hanover Theatre was designed by the firm Cutting, Carleton & Cutting. In 1926, Poli hired Thomas W. Lamb to doubled the theatre seating space.
The theatre is known for its Broadway touring shows, burlesque shows and headline acts transitioning to show silent movies. The theatre was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in January 2011. Pollstar has declared this theatre as one of the top theatres in the world. In 2008, the theatre won a National Trust for Historic Preservation Award. The venue hosts hundreds of events every year.
