Tommy Chong Information
Thomas B. Kin Chon (May 24, 1938) is an activist, comedian, actor, and musician from Canada. Playing the part of Leo on Fox's That '70s Show, as well as his work in the cannabis industry, his comedic records and films with Cheech Marin, and his position as an inspiration to the industry are among his most well-known accomplishments. He applied for and received naturalization as a U.S. citizen in the '80s.
Tommy Chong lived in a conservative area he called "Dog Patch" when he was a kid when his family relocated to Calgary. In the early 1960s, Chong joined the Calgary soul band the Shades, where he played guitar.
With a name change to "Little Daddy & the Bachelors" upon moving to Vancouver, British Columbia, the Shades rebranded themselves. "Too Much Monkey Business" and "Junior's Jerk" made a single. Chong co-founded a nightclub in Vancouver in 1963 with Bobby Taylor, another band member.
To compete as "Pineapple" in the first season of The Masked Singer, Chong sang Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" on January 9, 2019. In episode #1303 of Joe Rogan's online video podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, which aired on May 23, 2019, Chong appeared.
Chong appeared on Joey Diaz's online video podcast "The Church Of What's Happening Now" (episode #694) on June 19, 2019. Slicks, a fashion company, began collaborating with Chong's business in April 2020.
