Titus Andronicus is an indie rock band. The current lineup of the group consists of Chris Wilson (drums), R. J. Gordon (bass and backing vocals), Liam Betson (guitar and backing vocals), and Patrick Stickles (lead vocals and guitar). The band was formed in 2005 in Glen Rock, New Jersey. Neutral Milk Hotel and Pulp have been cited as the group stylistic influences. On April 14, 2008, Titus Andronicus released its debut album entitled The Airing of Grievances. The album was described as the sound of an indie band.
Titus Andronicus went on touring Europe and North America in 2009 to support their debut album. The group released its second album entitled The Monitor in March 2010. The album was released through XL Recordings. The album gained much positive acclaim and reached number 7 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart.
Titus Andronicus has done tour openings for many big names such as Okkervil River, Bright Eyes, and The Pogues. The band has appeared at notables festivals, including Roskilde Festival, Lollapalooza, and Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The band released its third studio album, Local Business, on October 22, 2012. The album was also listed at number 38 on Rolling Stone’s 50 Best Albums of 2012. The album peaked at 105 on the Billboard Top 200 chart.
Other studio albums released by Titus Andronicus include The Most Lamentable Tragedy (July 28, 2015), A Productive Cough (March 2, 2018), and An Obelisk (2019).
