Tim Robinson Information
Tim Robinson is an American producer, writer, actor, and comedian. He was born in Detroit, Michigan. After seeing a Second City show in Chicago when he was a youngster, he enrolled in improv lessons at Second City Detroit on the weekends. After graduating from school, he pursued a career in comedy while supporting himself with odd jobs like working in a toy store and instructing improv classes.
Following his time with the Second City touring group out of Detroit, Robinson is now a member of the Chicago troupe. Besides the iO Theater, he's also been on Just for Laughs. After filming a pilot for Comedy Central in 2011 titled My Mans, the show was ultimately canceled. He joined the cast of the canceled CBS sitcom Friend Me in 2012 as a series regular. He first appeared on SNL in September 2012 as a featured performer.
I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson, a sketch comedy series written by Robinson and starring Robinson, and produced by members of The Lonely Island, was officially greenlit by Netflix in 2018. The first season debuted in April of 2019 to widespread acclaim, and the second season aired to similar praise in July 2021. As an actor in a short-form comedy or drama series, Robinson won the 2022 Primetime Emmy for his role in I Think You Should Leave.
