Timothy Alan Dick (June 13, 1953) is an American actor and comedian. He is professionally known as Tim Allen. Allen was born in Denver, Colorado. He attended Seahold High School in Birmingham. At the high school, he attended music classes and theatre that resulted in his love for the piano. After high school, Allen attended Central Michigan University. Later, he got himself transferred to Western Michigan University in 1974. During his time at university time, Allen started to work at a radio station, “WIDR.” In 1976, he received his Bachelors of Science degree in communications.
Allen started his official career in 1975 as a comedian. As a dare given to him by one of his friends, he attended the comedy night at Mark Ridley's Comedy Castle, which was held in Royal Oak. He gained fame by appearing in n local television commercials as well as cable comedy shows, including Some Semblance of Sanity by Gary This. On October 2, 1978, he got arrested in the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport due to his possession of over 650 grams of cocaine. Later, Allen got paroled on June 12, 1981, after two years and four months.
Allen got popular with his participation in the ABC sitcom Home Improvement (1991–1999). He also appeared in Tim "The Tool-Man" Taylor, (Disney's The Santa Clause, Home Improvement), Christmas with the Kranks, Zoom, The Shaggy Dog, The Santa Clause 3, Redbelt, For Richer or Poorer, Meet Wally Sparks, The Six Wives of Henry Lefay, I Am Comic, 3 Geezers!, and a few more.
Allen was the narrator in Adventures of the Penguin King 2013, The Penguin King, Chimpanzee 2012, and Top Speed. He also played his part as a voice-over artist in Toy Story 1995, Toy Story 2 1999, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins 2000, Toy Story 3, Toy Story Toons: Small Fry 2011, Toy Story Toons: Partysaurus Rex, and in other Toy Story series for the character of Buzz Lightyear.
Allen also played as a host to the 8th Annual TV Land Awards (April 25, 2010) and also got featured in several Television shows. Some of the hit TV shows are Home Improvement, The Drew Carey Show, The Wonderful World of Disney, The Larry Sanders Show, 88th Academy Awards, and a few more.
