The Moth Information
The Moth is a group based in New York City dedicated to the art and craft of storytelling since 1997. The Moth presents a wide range of theme-based storytelling events abroad and nationally. The event often features prominent cultural and literary personalities. The Moth also offers a weekly podcast that was launched on national public radio in 2009, and in 2010, The Moth Radio Hour won the Peabody Award.
The Moth was actually founded by novelist and poet George Dawes Green. He wanted to recreate the feeling of sultry summer evenings in his native state of Georgia. Green's original group consisted of storytellers who called themselves “The Moths," which was taken to New York by Green.

The Moth: 50 True Stories reached number 22 on The New York Times Paperback Nonfiction Best-Seller List. Additionally, Occasional Magic: True Stories About Defying the Impossible (2019), and All These Wonders: True Stories about Facing the Unknown (2017) reached number 12 on The New York Times Paperback Nonfiction Best-Seller List.
