Steve Mazan is an American stand-up comedian, television writer, and author. Mazan is well-known for his "clean and witty comedy," has been on The Late Show with David Letterman, and won an Emmy for his writing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
In 2005, Mazan was given a prognosis of only five years to live after being diagnosed with inoperable metastatic Neuroendocrine cancer. Mazan decided to use his remaining time to pursue his lifelong ambition of appearing on David Letterman's talk program.
The film Dying to Do Letterman followed him on his quest. After receiving a nomination from the International Documentary Association, the film was submitted to the Academy Awards. After his experiences inspired an autobiography, HCI Books commissioned Mazan to pen it under the title Dying to do Letterman: Turning Someday Into Today. In addition, Mazan delivered a TEDx talk in which he discussed his fight against cancer and the pursuit of his goals.
