Showcase Dance Studio Information
Carfagno, who trained dance at the Broadway Dance Center in New York City and has performed professionally worldwide for the Washington Wizards and the Washington Football Team, founded Showcase in 2008. She filed for and was given a Capital Investment and Innovation Grant from Prince William County Economic Development to make the necessary changes for digital upgrades in her studio.
With the help of that funding, Showcase transformed into a technologically advanced dance studio, outfitting each of its four dancing classrooms with a TV, computer, and HD cameras. From March 2020 until July 2020, the studio hosted only virtual sessions using the new technology, and ever since then, hybrid classes have been offered. Bridget Waddle and Ally Hudson, two Showcase students, spoke out about how much those online classes helped them stay connected to their classmates and, as Waddle put it, were the only source of normalcy in their lives.
Michelle Waddle, Waddle's mother, expressed appreciation for Showcase's dedication to using class time to encourage student interaction and socialization. This enabled her daughter and others to discover common ground and methods to unwind during the lockdown.
