Sheng Wang Information
Sheng Wang (January 9, 1980) is a Taiwanese American stand-up comedian and staff writer born in Taipei City, Taiwan. At the 2007 Montreal Comedy Festival, Wang was one of the featured performers. The first thirty minutes of his nationally broadcast special, Comedy Central Presents, aired on January 28, 2011. His January 2011 victory in the Seventh Annual "Stand Up for Diversity" comedy search hosted by NBC Universal earned him top honors and a one-year talent-holding deal with the studio.
The 2012 season of John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show on Comedy Central featured Wang as an additional guest. Among Wang's previous appearances were comedians of Comedy, Campus Comedy Challenge (American Eagle), and Live at Gotham (Comedy Central). He was among the top ten competitors on Last Comic Standing in 2015. In 2015, Wang put out an album called Cornucopias Are Horrible Containers.
His debut Netflix special, Sweet & Juicy, came out in September 2022. Ali Wong's directorial debut was a comedic special. The city of Los Angeles is Sheng Wang's home. He lists Maria Bamford, Robert Hawkins, and Dave Attell as influences, and his stand-up routines have been compared to Mitch Hedberg's on multiple occasions.
