Sam Jay is an American writer and stand-up comedian. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and raised in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. Jay went to college for communications but soon realized that she had no interest and later quit. Jay works with Saturday Night Live as a staff writer now. She has performed on The Comedy Line-Up, Comedy Central Stand-Up Presents, and Jimmy Kimmel Live!. On August 4, 2020, her first hour-long comedy special entitled “3 In the Morning” was released on Netflix.
Sam Jay began on the writing staff of Saturday Night Live in October 2017. She also co-wrote “Black Jeopardy.” and appeared on The Comedy Lineup on July 3, 2018. She starred in a half-hour stand-up comedy special for Comedy Central Stand-Up Presents. The critics gave positive critical reception for her performance at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal.
