Ryan Hamilton (1976) is an American stand-up comedian from Ashton, Idaho. He was born in a small potato farming community and attended BYU-Idaho. Hamilton earned an associate degree in journalism and public relations. Later, he transferred to Brigham Young University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations. Hamilton began performing officially in Salt Lake City, Utah clubs, Seattle, and Boston. He considered all of these locations as his “comedy homes.”
Hamilton is known for using sarcastic, observational, and self-deprecating humor. He is a clean comedian who stays away from vulgar and adult comedy. His comedy material exclusively focuses on his personal experiences, including skydiving, single life, hot air balloons, and his big smile. In 2012, Hamilton was named one of Rolling Stone’s Five Comics to Watch. He has made many notable standout appearances on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Conan, The Late Late Show, Comedy Central, Last Comic Standing, and Showtime.
Hamilton also appeared in various festivals and competitions, including winning the Sierra Mist “America’s Next Great Comic” search 2005. He also joined the national tour of the same show. Hamilton was the winner of The Great American Comedy Festival 2011 and a two-time semi-finalist on Last Comic Standing. He is a regular performer at the famous Just for Laughs Comedy festivals, including Sydney and Montreal. Hamilton recently opened for Jerry Seinfeld on his Live tour in 2019. Happy Face is the first 1-hour special by Hamilton, which became available on Netflix on August 29, 2017.
