Ruth Esther Pointer (March 19, 1946) is a famous American singer. She was born in Oakland, California, and is the only surviving original Pointer Sisters family vocal group member. The Pointer Sisters' debut album came out in 1973 after she joined her sisters in 1972. "Yes, We Can Can" (1973), "Fairytale" (1974), and the rest of the group's hits (including Bonnie's departure in 1977) helped propel them to stardom.
With the 1983 album Break Out, which included singles like "Automatic," "Jump (For My Love)," a re-release of "I'm So Excited," "Neutron Dance," and "Baby Come And Get It," the group achieved its pinnacle of popularity. Ruth's lead vocals on the singles "Automatic" and "Neutron Dance" made it to number ten on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart and helped the group win two Grammys, so it's worth mentioning.
Pointer performed as "Cupcake" during season six of The Masked Singer in October 2021. Upon her unmasking, Pointer disclosed that she and her sister Anita would perform on the show as a pair, with Anita donning a recolored Cupcake outfit. Ruth had to play solo since Anita was sick. Following the passing of Bonnie in 2020 and Anita in 2022, Ruth Pointer will be the last living member of The Pointer Sisters.
