Rodney Carrington Information
Rodney Carrington (October 19, 1968) is an American actor, country music artist, songwriter, country music artist, and stand-up comedian born in Longview, Texas. The Bob and Tom Show and other radio programs helped him get known as a local comedian. Hangin' with Rodney, Carrington's debut album, was released by Mercury Records Nashville in 1998. The album featured stand-up comedy and original songs; the non-charting hit "Letter to My Penis" was included; the album reached No. 73 on Top Country Albums.
In 2009, Carrington dropped his sixth studio album titled El Nio Loco. This was his last album with Capitol Records. El Nio Loco differs from his other albums in not including any stand-up comedy. The album also has "Funny Man," his third original comedy song.
Carrington's first-holiday album, Make It Christmas, was released later that year. In December 2009, "Camouflage and Christmas Lights," the album's lead track, earned his first Top 40 country hit. The song is a serious homage to American troops serving overseas.
Two more Carrington comedy albums, Laughter's Good (2014) and Here Comes the Truth (2017), have been published under the independent label Laughter's Good Records. Between these two, in 2015, he published Rodney Carrington: The Hits, a collection of cover versions of his previous comedy singles. He's still performing as of the year 2023.
