Rickey Smiley Information
Broderick Dornell Smiley (August 10, 1968) is a well-known prank phone caller and American stand-up comedian, television presenter, actor, and radio personality. In these calls, Smiley pretends to speak with the person on the other end by changing his voice. With his flagship affiliate WHTA "Hot 107.9" in Atlanta, he hosts the nationally distributed Rickey Smiley Morning Show. The Rickey Smiley Show, in which Smiley played the lead role, was shown on TV One.
He also writes a featured column on the nationally syndicated tabloid show Dish Nation, produced by Fox. In 2015, Smiley began appearing on his life-documenting reality show, Rickey Smiley For Real.
Several of Smiley's comedic songs have been adapted from his bits; for example, "Roll Tide" features his character Buford, and "We Miss Robert" is based on one of his routines in which a friend of a dead drug dealer performs a rap song named "We Miss Robert" at the funeral—a song about a woman—in an attempt to get a record deal. The film Friday After Next, directed by Ice Cube, featured Smiley in a leading role. He was also Ice Cube's Snitch Mitch's informant in All About the Benjamins. Fans may see him in a deleted scene in the DVD's extra features.
