Richard Beato (April 24, 1962) is an American educator, music producer, multi-instrumentalist, and YouTube personality. He was born in Fairport, New York. Beato's resume includes work as a session musician, professor, educator, composer, engineer, mixer, and record producer. The University of Alabama and Berklee College of Music are just two of the institutions he has taught at. Beato opened his recording studio, Black Dog Sound Studios, in Stone Mountain, Georgia 1995.
He and Johnny Diamond were co-owners of the record company 10 Star Records. Written in 2007 with Parmalee, "Carolina" topped Billboard's Country Airplay list on December 20, 2013, and has sold one million copies. A Rick Beato signature Gibson Les Paul Special Double Cut was unveiled in 2021. The instrument has Beato's signature on the truss rod cover and comes in a limited-edition TV Blue Mist finish with P-90 pickups.
This instrument is one of the few Gibson signature models that isn't named after a specific performer or album. Although Beato's videos are all titled "Everything Music," his account is under his name. What Makes This Song Great? is a series in which Beato analyzes and examines the components of hit songs. Over a million views per movie are common for this series.
