Nirathi Rao founded Rhythmaya Dance in 2005 to share the beauty and grace of Indian dance with the world. Rhythmaya's first Bollywood dance lessons were held in Nirathi's garage and basement. The dance school gained notoriety despite having few students by performing at community centers and other small venues. Nirathi's Rhythmaya Dance studio grew steadily as the number of pupils enrolled increased yearly.
Once Shelia Oak joined the group a few years after it began, Rhythmaya Dance was unstoppable. Rhythmaya now offers lessons in Kathak dance and has expanded into Maryland. Together, Nirathi and Shelia became a formidable force, elevating the dance studio to the level of a full-fledged school.
Six studios, 25 professional teachers, and 300+ enthusiastic dancers make up Rhythmaya Dance's thriving student body. Bollywood and Kathak dance lessons are just the beginning; Rhythmaya also offers choreography workshops for weddings and other special events, a performance troupe, and a wide selection of stunning costumes for hire.
