Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Martin Herlihy, all of whom were students at New York University when they first started working together to form the comedy group called Please Don't Destroy, are currently based in New York City. Please Don't Destroy My Farm inspired this band's formation in 2017 when it was first put together. The comedy group put on shows every month participated in the New York Comedy Festival, and generated sketch videos uploaded to YouTube.
The three individuals were recruited as writers for the 47th season of Saturday Night Live (SNL) in 2021, and their primary responsibility was to create prerecorded digital videos for the show. On October 9, 2021, Please Don't Destroy made its premiere on Saturday Night Live. They collaborated with Pete Davidson and Taylor Swift on recording the single "Three Sad Virgins." Higgins' father is Steve Higgins, a longtime SNL writer, announcer, and producer. On the other hand, Herlihy is the son of Tim Herlihy, a longtime head writer and producer for Saturday Night Live.
