Paula Poundstone Information
Paula Poundstone (December 29, 1959) is an American author, actress, interviewer, stand-up comedian, and commentator. She is from Huntsville, Alabama. The career genres are crowd work, actress, commentator, standup, improvisational comedy, and all of these are based on Observational humor. Poundstone started in the late 1980s and performed a series of one-hour HBO comedy specials. During 1992, she also provided backstage commentary for the presidential election on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Poundstone hosts the Starburns Audio podcast named Nobody Listens to Paula Poundstone, and was previously a member of the Maximum Fun network.
Poundstone is a frequent panelist on NPR's weekly news quiz show entitled Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me. She was also a recurring guest on the network's A Prairie Home Companion. In 1979, she began doing stand-up comedy at open-mic nights in Boston. During her stay in San Francisco, Poundstone became known for improvisational sets at The Other Cafe comedy club in the Haight-Ashbury and Holy City Zoo. She also performed an act in an episode of Saturday Night Live, hosted by Williams. In that same year, she also got cast in the movie Gremloids.
