Since 2013, Company XIV has been performing the critically acclaimed burlesque production Nutcracker Rouge. Although the popular Christmas ballet is most often thought of when the narrative of Clara and her travels in the Land of Sweets is spoken, Company XIV brings a seductive and passionate take on the tale for the holiday season.
A godfather gives a girl the titular toy in The Nutcracker, and the girl soon realizes it has transformed into a dashing prince. They defeat the Mouse King and his minions as a team and then go on a journey to the Land of Sweets, where they meet the lovely Sugar Plum Fairy, ruler of the land, and a cast of characters celebrating sweets from all over the globe, including chocolate, coffee, tea, candy canes, and many more besides.
In 2013, Nutcracker Rouge made its debut at the Minetta Lane Theatre. Now that it has its own dedicated home location, Théâtre XIV, Company XIV performs the show there. In addition to Nutcracker Rouge, Company XIV is well-known for its sensual holiday presentations, which include performances centered around Halloween, Christmas, and New Year's Eve.
