Norm MacDonald Information
Norman Gene Macdonald (October 17, 1959) is a Canadian actor, writer, and stand-up comedian. He was born in Quebec City. Macdonald attended Quebec High School, and for further education, he went to Gloucester High School in Ottawa.
Macdonald started his comedy career in 1985 when he regularly appeared on amateur nights at different stand-up clubs such as Yuk Yuks. In 1986, he appeared in the comedy festival that was held in Montreal called “Just For Laughs.” He had been a regular guest star on Star Search in 1990.
Before joining SNL, Macdonald was hired as a writer for the Roseanne television sitcom for the 1992-93 season. He entered Saturday Night Live (SNL) television program, which was aired on NBC in 1993. He performed impressions of the David Letterman, Bob Dole, Charles Kuralt, Burt Reynolds, Quentin Tarantino, and Larry King.
Macdonald was removed from SNL, and soon after, he starred and co-wrote for the Dirty Work (1998) that was a “revenge comedy.” The film was co-starred by Artie Lange, featuring Chris Farley, and directed by Bob Saget. That same year, Macdonald worked as a voice-over artist in the movie Dr. Dolittle, where he was the voice of Lucky the Dog in the adaptation of Eddie Murphy.
Macdonald was also on the Celebrity Edition of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” on November 12, 2000. He won $500,000 in the Wall Charity Camp for Paul Newman’s Hole. Macdonald has worked in several films including Duece Bigalow: Male Gigolo (1999), The Animal (2001), Christmas Is Here Again (2007), The Flight Before Christmas (2008), Funny People (2009), The Outback (2012), The Ridiculous Six (2015), and several others.
