Nigella Lawson Information
Nigella Lawson (January 6, 1960) is an English television cook and food writer. She was born in Wandsworth, London. She received her education in London at Godolphin and Latymer. At Oxford, Lawson was a part of Lady Margaret Hall. Once she graduated, she worked as a critic for both books and restaurants before becoming the deputy literary editor of The Sunday Times in 1986. After that, she became a freelance journalist for a variety of publications.
How to Eat, her debut cookbook, was published in 1998 and quickly became a best-seller, selling over 300,000. Her second book, 2000’s How to Be a Domestic Goddess, earned her the title Author of the Year at the British Book Awards. Along with releasing her second best-selling cookbook, Nigella Bites, Lawson began hosting her culinary show on Channel 4 in 1999. Lawson’s 2005 ITV daytime chat show Nigella was met with unfavorable critical reaction and was terminated due to low ratings, despite winning a Guild of Food Writers Award for Lawson’s book Nigella Bites.
In 2006, she hosted Nigella Feasts on the Food Network in the United States. The following year, she starred in Nigella’s Christmas Kitchen, a three-part BBC Two series that led to the 2007 commissioning of Nigella Express. She sold over 8 million copies of her cookbooks worldwide and made £7 million off her cookware line, Living Kitchen.
