Nicholas Kristof Information
Nicholas Donabet Kristof (April 27, 1959) is an American author, journalist, and political commentator from Chicago, Illinois. He grew up in Yamhill, Oregon, on a cherry and sheep farm. Kristof graduated from Yamhill Carlton High School. He later attended Harvard and worked for The Harvard Crimson newspaper. Later on, Kristof went to Magdalen College to study law. He also studied Egypt and Arabic at The American University for the academic year of 1983 to 1984.
Kristof traveled to more than 150 countries at a young age. He was also a member of Hartford University’s board of overseers. Kristof has written many bestsellers as a Co-author. Some of his notable books are Nicholas D. Kristof; Thunder from the East (February 23, 2001), Half the Sky (September 8, 2009), China Wakes: The Struggle for the Soul of a Rising Power (October 12, 2011), A Path Appears: Transforming Lives, Creating Opportunity (September 23, 2014), and Tightrope: Americans Reaching for Hope (January 14, 2020).
Kristof has earned many major prizes alongside his wife, Sheryl WuDunn. A few of the special ones are a Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting, the George Polk Award (from the Overseas Press Club), the Golden Plate Award of the American Academy of Achievement, 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award by the Dayton Literary Peace Prize, the 2009 World of Children Lifetime Achievement Award, the 2008 Anne Frank Award, the 2013 Advancing Global Health Award, and the 2007 Fred Cuny Award. He was named one of the seven “Top American Leaders” in 2011 by The Washington Post and the Harvard Kennedy School.
