Mark Moshe Kasher (July 6, 1979) is an American actor, writer, and stand-up comedian. He was born in Queens, New York. Kasher and his mother and brother moved to Oakland, California, when he was one year old. Kasher grew up in the Temescal and Piedmont Avenue communities of North Oakland, where his family relied heavily on public assistance and food stamps. Kasher, the son of deaf parents, started working as a sign-language interpreter when he was 17. Kasher's parents met at the World Deaf Games in 1967 and divorced when he was nine years old.
Kasher's comic career reached a turning point in 2009. At that year's Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival, he was selected "Best of Fest." His performance in Aspen earned him an invitation to Montreal's Just For Laughs comedy festival the following year. Kasher's comedy album Everyone You Know Is Going to Die, and Then You Are! was released in April 2009 by Rooftop Comedy Productions, and it was named one of the top 20 comedy albums of 2009 on iTunes near the end of the year. Kasher was also named Top New Comedy Artist of 2009 by iTunes.
Kasher's stand-up routine has been on shows, including Late Night with Jimmy Fallon in 2010 and John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show in 2011.
