Michael Palin Information
Michael Palin (May 5, 1943) is an English comedian, writer, television presenter, and actor born in Sheffield, England. Birkdale and Shrewsbury School were among Palin's educational stops. His older sister Angela committed suicide in 1987, but that didn't prevent them from becoming close. Palin's ancestors originated in Letterkenny, County Donegal; he also has English and Irish Catholic ancestry. His great-grandmother was adopted by a rich English family when she fled the Irish Famine.
Palin began her career in television in 1965, when she was just out of college, hosting a comic pop show called Now! on Television Wales and the West. Jones, who had dropped out of college the previous year, also reached out to Palin for assistance in penning a theatrical documentary on the history of sex.
Twenty years passed between Palin's roles in Fierce Creatures and the satirical black comedy The Death of Stalin, in which he portrayed Soviet statesman Vyacheslav Molotov. Jones directed and starred in both films. Palin co-starred in a documentary directed by John Cleese called The Human Face. Palin was originally cast as a supporting character in the romance comedy You've Got Mail starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, but his scenes were ultimately omitted.
