Men Who Dance Information
Men Who Dance is an entertainment event by Broward Center for the Performing Arts that presents some of the most exhilarating male performances on stage. The show featured a diverse range of dance styles performed by dancers who come from well-known companies. The idea behind Men Who Dance’s inception was to present a diverse and dynamic dance program intended to attract broad audiences across southern Florida. The show is specially designed for those who are ready to be astonished and entertained.
Men Who Dance was organized by Rafi Maldonado, who was heavily inspired by the idea of challenging and exploring ideas of masculinity. According to him, artists have the power to heal people uniquely. Men Who Dance is full of several of Miami’s top dance artists and companies.
This project of Maldonado’s Inter-American Choreographic Institute (ICI) was initially launched in 2014. The aim was to develop dance stories unique to the Americas, whether they are about Brazilian slaves who created capoeira or Western pioneers in the US. Some of the big names included in the Men Who Dance list are Capoeira dancer Gustavo Guru, Enrique Villacreses, Choreographer Ray Sullivan, Liz Malm, and Ariel Rose.
