Maureen Beck Information
Mountaineer and adaptive climbing expert Maureen Beck hails from the United States of America. She was born without her lower left arm, yet she managed to win six national titles and a gold medal in the Spanish Paraclimbing World Championships in 2014.
Beck is a native of Ellsworth, Maine, and attended the University of Vermont for his education. At 12, she was motivated to begin climbing after a camp counselor told her that she did not have to participate in the activity as part of a camp course. She devised a method for one-handed climbing independently because none was available to her then. She was Jim Ewing's climbing partner when they attempted to scale the Lotus Flower Tower, which is located in the Cirque of the Unclimbables.
The climbing career of Beck was the primary focus of the 2018 documentary titled "Stumped." Beck was honored with the National Geographic Adventurer of the Year title in 2019.
