Marc Maron Information
Marc Maron (September 27, 1963) is an American musician, writer, actor, podcaster, and stand-up comedian born in Jersey City, New Jersey. At 24, Maron made his stand-up comedy debut in 1987. He launched his professional comic career after befriending Sam Kinison at Los Angeles's The Comic Store. He eventually settled into the alternative comedy scene after relocating to the Big Apple.
In the summer of 1994, he made multiple appearances at the Boston Comedy Club's (now-closed) open-mic night on Mondays, organized by Tracey Metzger in Greenwich Village. New York magazine rated his 2023 special From Bleak to Dark the "No. 1 Best Comedy Special of 2023." The Podcast Academy for Excellence in Audio (The Ambies) presented the inaugural Governors Award to Maron and his producer, Brendan McDonald, in April 2021 to recognize their efforts on WTF.
The Netflix comedy GLOW, in which Maron co-starred from 2017 to 2019, garnered him numerous award nominations. Leslie, set to release in 2022, has him and Andrea Riseborough in supporting roles. In The Horror of Dolores Roach, an Amazon web series, he portrayed landlord Gideon Perlman.
