Long Beach Ballet Information

The Long Beach Ballet Arts Center was once known as the Ballet Arts Center of Southern California, but it changed its name to reflect its newfound nonprofit status in 1990.  With the unique benefit of housing professional dancers and visiting artists from all over the globe, as shown on the corridor walls, the school has expanded to accommodate more than 300 pupils.

Under the direction of Lisa-Marie Goodwin and Shani Englert, the higher-level students created Long Beach Ballet Theatre (LBBT) in 1996 as a pre-professional "regional" performing group.

Wilcox traveled to Taiwan and China in 1997 and 1998 with the school's professional company and students, solidifying his connection to the Asian ballet community.

The school's long history of producing ballet technical champions is alive and well today. For the last 28 years, these pupils have gone on to win scholarships to universities all around the U.S., performed admirably in international ballet contests, and even landed jobs with big organizations.

David built three outdoor studios in 2021, each with its sound system, mirrors, and marley flooring. Students performed this style of mask-wearing dancing for seven months outside.
