Laura Wright (September 11, 1970) is an American actress. She was born in Washington, D.C. Most notably, she portrayed Ally Rescott on Loving (1991–1995) and The City (1995–1997), Cassie Layne Winslow on Guiding Light (1997–2005), and Carly Corinthos (Spencer) on General Hospital (2005–present). For her work as Spencer, she was honored with the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series 2011.
Wright confirmed her continuation as Carly until at least 2013 with a 2009 Twitter announcement that she had inked a four-year deal with the show. She announced her renewed four-year contract with the show during the 2013 fan club weekend in July. After 20 years in the industry, Wright received a Daytime Emmy nomination in 2011 for her performance as Carly, which was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress. She took home the trophy during the 38th Annual Daytime Emmys.
Afterward, Wright received a second lead actress nomination for the 39th Daytime Emmys. She was nominated for her role as Bold and Beautiful's Katie Logan Spencer but was ultimately defeated by Heather Tom. Joy is a 2015 film starring General Hospital co-stars Donna Mills and Maurice Benard, and it includes a cameo appearance by Wright. Deadly Patient, a Lifetime film that debuted on December 14, 2018, also featured her.
