Karamo Brown Information
Karamo Brown (November 2, 1980) is a television host, author, reality television personality, and activist. He is from Houston, Texas, and of Jamaican and Cuban descent. He is a gay activist and came out as gay when he was 16. Brown was raised in Coral Springs, Florida, and went to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland (1999). Later he graduated from Florida A&M University, which is a historically black university. He launched his official career on the MTV reality show The Real World: Philadelphia in 2004. Currently, he stars as the culture expert in the Netflix series Queer Eye.
In 2003, he was a contestant on the 5th Wheel episode, a heterosexual reality dating game show. His television debut on MTV The Real World: Philadelphia made him the first out gay black man on reality TV. Later on, he also competed in the Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Inferno II and was a contributing host on HLN's Dr. Drew On Call and YouTube's The Young Turks. Brown also served as a host of Access Hollywood Live.
Some of the other TV and web shows in which Brown appeared on are The Thing About Harry, The Wendy Williams Show, Good Morning America, The Daily Show With Trevor Noah, Dancing with the Stars, and The Real Princess Diaries: From Diana to Meghan. Brown earned the Human Rights Campaign Visibility Award in 2018 and a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program in 2020.
