John Valby Information
John R. Valby (November 22, 1944) is an American singer, songwriter, comedian, musician, and producer. Valby is best known for his obscene and comedic song parodies. Also known as Dr. Dirty, Valby was born and raised in upstate New York and attended school in Rochester, New York. At seven, he was taught to play piano by two nuns and knew he wanted to become a performer at ten. Later, he attended Duke University and finished his graduation in Idealism.
In his early career, Valby joined various rock bands, although they continued to break up. He eventually decided to become a solo pianist of mostly rock and roll and honky-tonk tunes. Valby added a few dirty songs into his set during a show in May 1974, which received a positive response. This led him to focus more on adult material. Valby then claimed that he was named “Dr. Dirty” by the National Entertainment Conference, a booking organization for the college circuit.
Valby has played his role as the piano player played by a Tijuana brother in the 1983 film called “Losin’ It.” The film also featured a performance by Tom Cruise. He has a long list of successfully released projects, including Juicy Tidbits (2018), Democracy Is Working Again (2016), Keep and Valby On (2015), Survival of the Stiffest (2015), Tickling the Ovaries (2012), Tequila Mockingbird (DVD) (2009), and The Dirt Poems (2009).
