Jimmy Tingle Information
Jimmy Tingle (April 9, 1955) is an American comic and actor born in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He is well-known for being the American correspondent show of David Frost for BBC and PBS entitled “The Strategic Humor Initiative.” Tingle has also completed two seasons with 60 Minutes II on CBS, where he appeared as the humorist and commentator in the Andy Rooney spot. He has worked for MSNBC as a contributor and satirist. He has appeared on Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn, The Late Late Show with Tom Snyder, The Tonight Show, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Larry King’s Weekend, HBO comedy special, and The American Comedy Awards.
Tingle has been featured in “Head of State,” a film with Chris Rock where he appeared as a television talk show host. He has starred in the International Emmy Award-winning documentary on art censorship entitled Damned in the U.S.A. Tingle served as an owner, principal performer, and producing director of Jimmy Tingle’s OFF BROADWAY Theater in Somerville, Massachusetts. It has presented over 200 productions and co-productions from the worlds of political events, kids shows, radio, television, theater, music, and comedy. He was voted “Best of Boston“ in the “Theater Alternative” category by Boston Magazine in August 2007.
Jimmy Tingle has appeared in several films throughout his career, including The Strategic Humor Initiative (2003), Head of State (2003), By the Sea (2002), The Boondock Saints (1999), Next Stop Wonderland (1998), Boomtown (2005), and One Night Stand (1991).
