Jean Marc Present is a Quebec comedian who is nicknamed JMP. He is originally from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. Present pursued his studies in psychology for a year and became a social worker. JMP was discovered as a comedian in 1988 at Auditions Juste pour rire with his first number called L’Handicap, after receiving little training. He eventually formed a duo with Michel Barrette and produced a show entitled “Open from the Top” in 1989.
JMP specialized in comedy marathon shows during the 1990s in front of several thousand spectators at venues. JMP presented the first part of about two hours of scripted humor, conventional, followed by several improvisation hours. He also became the spokesperson for Operation Nez rouge in 1993.
JMP improvised and hosted a comedy show on the TQS television network in 1996 entitled L’Heure JMP. JMP has done many notable shows throughout his career, including Open from Above (1989), Urgency to Live (2005-2008), JMP Event (2008-2010), Torture (2011-2012), and Utopia (2018-2019). His exceptional television appearances include Caleb’s daughters (1990), L’Heure JMP (1996), and L’Or (2006).
