Jared Antonio Farrow (October 14, 1987) is an American impressionist, actor, and stand-up comedian. He is professionally known as Jay Pharoah. He was born in Chesapeake, Virginia. Pharoah graduated from Indian River High School. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University and Tidewater Community College to pursue his education in Business.
Pharoah began performing as a stand-up comedian at comedy clubs in Virginia and different other community theatres. He has also toured with Charlie Murphy and Corey Holcomb at one point. Pharoah is also known for his celebrity impression that includes Eddie Murphy, Denzel Washington, Peter Dinklage, Kanye West, Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Charlie Murphy, Barack Obama, Will Smith, Chris Rock, and Stephen A. Smith. He received major recognition when he got impersonated with Barack Obama, which is seen widely on YouTube.
Saturday Night Live hired Pharoah as a featured player during the 36th season in 2010. On September 25, 2010, Pharoah debuted on Saturday Night Live. He was regarded by Rob Moynihan, as the “breakout player” for that SNL season. In June 2012, Pharoah also appeared in an independent film called “Lola Versus.” Fox Searchlight Pictures released the film. He also got featured for a small role in the film “Ride Along,” starring Kevin Hart and Ice Cube.
Pharoah was featured in a commercial for Old Navy in 2016, alongside his fellow Nasim Pedrad and Cecily Strong, who were SNL cast members. He also hosted the American Music Awards of 2016 with model Gigi Hadid. He has appeared in several top-films such as Balls Out (2014), Top Five (2014), Corner Shop Show (2018), Family Guy (2018), Live in Front of a Studio Audience, and several others.
