Jay Leno Information
James Douglas Muir Leno (April 28, 1950) is an American television comedian, writer, and host born in New Rochelle, New York. Leno attended Andover High School, where he completed his formal education. He opened a comedy club in Boston in 1973 after graduating with a BA in speech therapy from Emerson College. Patrick, his older brother (born on May 12, 1940, and passing away on October 6, 2002), was an attorney and a Vietnam War veteran.
Leno hosted a one-hour Jay Leno's Garage special on CNBC, and the show has been shown as a primetime series on the cable channel since 2015. Leno also had a reoccurring part as a mechanic named Joe Leonard on the fifth season of the Tim Allen comedy series Last Man Standing. Since the show's debut in the fall of 2021, Leno has presided over its third reincarnation as host. There will be a second season of it.
Leno has also done voice work for shows including The Fairly Odd Parents (in which he played The Crimson Chin from 2001 to 2016) and Mickey and the Roadster Racers (in which he played Billy Beagle). Johnny Carson, Robert Klein, Alan King, David Brenner, Mort Sahl, George Carlin, Don Rickles, Bob Newhart, and Rodney Dangerfield are among the comics who have influenced Leno. Leno has been cited as an influence by comedians such as Dennis Miller and Jerry Seinfeld.
