Jane Seymour Fonda (December 21, 1937) is an American political activist, former fashion model, and actress. She was born in New York City. Fonda attended Emma Willard School in Troy; Greenwich Academy in Greenwich, Connecticut; and Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York. Before her acting career, Fonda was a model, and she had appeared on Vogue’s cover twice.
Fonda started taking an interest in acting while she was in her teenage years. Her interest was raised as she used to appear in a charity performance of “The Country Girl” with her father. She dropped out of Vassar College, went to Paris, and studied art there. In 1958, after returning to the United States, her life turned around right after her meeting with Lee Strasberg. According to Fonda, Strasberg was the second person in her life after his father, who recognized her talent and admired her.
Fonda appeared in “Sunday in New York” in 1963. The same year, she received both negative and positive remarks from different people in the industry, such as Harvard Lampoon called her the “Year’s Worst Actress.” She did not care about such negative people around her. In 1965, Fonda got the breakthrough in a western comedy film Cat Ballou. The film gained five Oscar nominations. This film has brought Fonda the major success in her career.
Fonda received the honorary title of “Miss Army Recruiting” by the Pentagon in 1962. She was also inducted into the California Hall of Fame in December 2008. Again in November and December 2009, Fonda got the National German Stability Award. Fonda has been awarded in different award shows for a variety of categories due to her utmost talent.
