James Murray Information
James Stephen "Murr" Murray (May 1, 1976) is an American producer, author, actor, and improvisational comedian. Murray was born in the New York City borough of Staten Island and is of Irish and Italian origin. In his first year, he met his future comedy collaborators Joe Gatto, Brian Quinn, and Sal Vulcano at Monsignor Farrell High School in that town. He received his diploma in 1994. Murray went to Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where he earned his bachelor's degree.
Murray created, wrote, and directed the 1998 film Damned! starring Jeremy Guskin as Jesus in a biblical rendition. Rather than buying a Ford Taurus, Murray's parents agreed to fund the creation of this film at his request. The Tenderloins started collaborating on comedy sketches, which they uploaded to YouTube, MySpace, and Metacafe, where they received millions of views.
Murray was the senior vice president of development at NorthSouth Productions until February 2018, when he left. In 2018, he published Awakened, a science fiction/horror novel co-written with Darren Wearmouth about a monster who lives in New York City's subways. In 2019, The Brink, a sequel, was released. Murray and Wearmouth collaborated on another horror novel, Don't Move, in 2020, about a group of campers pursued by a monstrous arachnid. They published The Stowaway, a thriller about a serial killer onboard a cruise ship, in 2021.
