James Acaster Information
James Acaster (January 9, 1985) is an English comedian born in Kettering, England. In 2008, Acaster decided to pursue stand-up comedy full-time after playing drums for local bands in Kettering. In 2010, he performed as Josie Long's backup. Acaster received five Best Comedy Show nominations at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, a record number, for his critically acclaimed performances.
The four-part Netflix special Repertoire (2018) was born from his 2017 tour of three Fringe performances as The Trelogy, for which he also wrote a fourth piece. Following sporadic performances in the UK, Acaster announced Hecklers Welcome, a US tour, in 2022. He says it's okay for others to be distracted by their phones or heckle him to ease his anxieties.
To rediscover the delight in stand-up comedy, Acaster set out to perfect the parts he had previously disliked. Cinderella (2021) was Acaster's first film role; it co-starred James Corden and Romesh Ranganathan, two comedians. They sounded like three mice and looked like three footmen in their altered forms. Acaster replaced John Mulaney. After that, he'll be in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire and Seize Them!, where he'll portray Felix the Ironmonger.
